Second aid package from US to Cape Verde to be signed on 10 February
Praia, Cape Verde, 31 Jan – The second aid package from the Millennium Challenge Account to Cape Verde is due to be signed on 10 February, the US ambassador to Cape Verde said Monday in Praia.
At the end of a meeting with the president of the National Assembly, Basílio Mosso Ramos, Ambassador Adrienne O’Neal said that the embassy was preparing a visit to Cape Verde by the chief executive of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Daniel W. Yohaness, to sign the second financial aid package for Cape Verde.
Cape Verde was the first country to be considered for a second package of aid from the MCA, worth US$66.2 million, which will be used for development programmes in the water, sanitation and land registry sectors.
The first aid package was worth US$110 million, and was used to build infrastructure for Cape Verde’s development. (macauhub)

THE PRESIDENT: Jacob, thank you for that introduction. More importantly, thank you for your extraordinary service to our country.

I want to acknowledge two outstanding members of my Cabinet who are here today -- Secretary of Veterans Affairs Ric Shinseki is in the house, also one of our finest -- (applause) -- himself, one of our finest veterans and obviously an extraordinary leader when he was in our Army. And I also want to acknowledge Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, who's   
CVN’s launch to the Cloud is a success. All systems are working, I.e. Smart phones, tablets, laptops, netbook and camcorder are all working fine. CVN MultiMedia becomes the first to go totally mobile print, produce, publish and broadcast globally.
Will operating from the Cloud9 mean their will be no more time dancing at the Bisca Club or Victor Fonseca’s dance parties? No. Cloud Commander, Tom Lopes (smile) says that he will find time to come down from Cloud9 to do some dancing, eat some jag and go to Church and drop in on one of a number of Cape Verdean communities from coast to coast.
